Italy: Italians
-
When we arrived in Rome, I was immediately struck by the fact that there were Italians everywhere. And they were displaying such typical Italian behavior as:
* Being hot
* Wearing fashionable clothes
* Making out in public squares
* Having passionate romantic arguments on the street (which Maggie dubbed "domestics")
One of our favorite moments was when we discovered a woman wearing a see-through dress . . . at a wedding! You'll see her below. Also see if you can pick out the Germans in the bunch.
I also love the last bunch of pictures here, of neighborhood ladies gathering in the afternoon in a park in Venice. This is just a few blocks from St. Mark's Square, and right next to the Giardini site of the Venice Biennale, but it's uncrowded and neighborly. Amazing. In a city that gets 18 million visitors a year, you only have to go a few blocks from the tourist centers to be in a restful beautiful city.
