The Lives of Others

-

We saw this great German film on Friday. It's the story of a playwright being surveiled in 1980s East Germany, and it follows both the surveillee and the surveiller to see how they are both affected by what they hear and don't hear. A great balance of drama, history, and political thriller. It won the Best Foreign Film Oscar in March. I still wish Pan's Labyrinth would have won, but this is a worthy film.

This movie was the best buzz kill I've had in a while.
