i happened to see most of this episode, after hearing you and kbs talk about how wonderful it is. i *did* really enjoy it. (and i'm always hearing how fantastic the host is. so far so excellent.)
this guy was *good*, but i was actually a tiny bit underwhelmed. i guess i've seen a lot of AMAZING bboy dancing on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew. and this guy was limber and flowing, but aside from that KICKARSE side-step crab thing, the rest was meh for the style. i fully expect him to kick arse in the future, though, with better choreography.
There are a lot of great b-boys out there. You should YouTube Hok sometime. He was on SYTYCD 2-3 seasons ago and was one of my favorites. I loved Legacy's crab walk, also his going from a shoulder roll straight up to a head roll. But also I just loved his flow and movement. You can teach tricks, but you can't teach that.
The other two things I liked about him: I liked how he could stop on a dime. It wasn't just about movement but also about pauses and stops. And I loved the way he started and stopped his routine. The judges are always talking about the dancers connecting with their audiences through eye contact, but b-boys can't really do that because their dancing is so gymnastic. But Legacy found a way to connect at the beginning and end of his routine. I loved that last move, going down on each knee in perfect time with the music and then lifting his arm on the last beat.
