Awesomest Musical Metaphor Ever?

At one point in his lecture on Wagner's opera Tristan and Isolde, Robert Greenberg, my guide to classical music, says, "It's as if we took off our socks and put bologna in our shoes."

i tell you, kibble, i could have sworn mozart was painting CHEETOS with the theme in Cosi' Fan Tutte . . .

He's quite a character himself, that Robert Greenberg. Have to say I've loved his enthusiasm on the lectures I've heard, but I don't remember putting bologna in my shoes :>)
