Do Elves Exist?

So yesterday I came home from work, and my front lawn had been beautifully manicured. Deep, wide layers of dark mulch--four inches deep--had been put in the front, sides, by the driveway, by the house. It looked incredible.
The only problem: Neither Jay nor I had done this. And we had not hired anyone to do it either. We have no idea who mulched and manicured the extensive landscaping of our house.
We asked our neighbors if they had seen anything, and they said it was done by people in an unmarked white pickup truck. I suspect that someone in the neighborhood hired these people and they went to the wrong house. What else could it be?

you owe us $239 and a cubic yard of mulch.
Can we pay it off in "barking credits"? Like, whenever you need some loud obnoxious barking, we'll lend you Rocky and then take the cost off the tab? Could be useful for guarding the house when you're on vacation, or getting rid of relatives overstaying their welcome . . .
